Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Laws

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws are laws that require Producers to be responsible for their products throughout its entire lifecycle. Through EPR laws, governments globally encourage producers to improve the recyclability of products and materials, reduce weight of waste, eliminate use of hazardous substances and to convert waste into a resource to generate higher quality waste streams.

WEEE

Directive 2012/19/EU aims at avoiding waste from electrical and electronic equipment. Recycling, reuse, or other recovery of this equipment is also encouraged. Recovery rates have been defined, which differ from product group to product group and had to be achieved by 31st December 2006. The manufacturer must guarantee the collection, processing and recovery of the equipment stated in annex IA of the WEEE brought to the market after 13th August 2005. Disposal instructions may be found in the manual of a product and may appear as referenced.

Battery Compliance

Emerson Professional Tools, LLC for the RIDGID ® brand is committed to assure our battery-based products meet the extent of the requirements needed for compliance under these programs below.

EU Battery Directive

The Directive 2006/66/EC Of The European Parliament And Of The Council sets forth objectives for the sustainability of batteries throughout their lifecycle when placed on the market.

The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) Program

Initiated by Call2Recycle, this program is focused on the recyclability of rechargeable batteries. This was done by creating the official battery seal to which product manufacturers and marketers can place on rechargeable batteries to promote recyclability to our buyers. Our batteries with this seal can be taken to an appropriate steward within North America for recycling.
