Model 226 - What is the maximum o.d. (outside diameter) this model will work with? States 6" in the description. This is the inside diameter of the pipe. Different 6" pipes, have different outside diameters. I want to confirm this will work for me.

The 226 soil pipe cutter can cut up to standard 6" nominal soil pipe. The OD of standard 6" pipe is 6.625"

Can this tool cut the galvanized pipe in place?

A soil pipe cutter chain will not cut/snap galvanized or carbon steel pipe. It is designed for cast iron, clay, and terra cotta pipe.

When cutting installed vertical soil pipe 4” cast iron, is it easier to start cutting from top or bottom?
