Easy to Use
I used the 238-P soil pipe cutter today is cold rainy weather to cut rusty old cast iron pipe in a very tight spot. The tool was easy enough to maneuver with one hand due to the light weight, small size, and the angularity of the construction, even in a cold, rainy, icy environment.
The knob is easy to adjust and the provided ratchet fits the adapter snugly. It doesn't fall out and has a solid feel to it. There is positive feedback provided by the ratchet. The reverse lever and removal button works easily with one finger. The included screw-in handle is easy to hold, it inserts and removed easily.
The snapping action is clean and there is no cracking of the pipe or offsetting of the cutter wheels.
I have not used this tool with an impacter but assume it will work just as well as it does with the manual ratchet wrench.
The instruction book is clear and concise with good explanations and diagrams.

Will this cutter do extra heavy cast iron pipe?
This cutter is recommended for standard service weight cast iron pipe. It is not suggested for extra heavy cast iron pipe.

Can this cutter cut SS pipes? or perhaps you can recommend the best Cutter for limited space cutting
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. The Powered Soil Pipe Cutter 238-P is designed to work with No-Hub Soil Pipe, Service Weight Soil Pipe, Clay Pipe and Concrete Pipe. This tool fractures the pipe rather than cutting it. It would not work for stainless steel.
