Great Machine! We just recently bought the RIGID 1224 and it works great for us. We are threading 4" pipe and haven't had any problems yet. The one thing we did run into was if the pipe was too soft the thread cuttings would jam in the dies, but with regular hardness pipe it works awesome. We also used it for 2" pipe and it ripped right through it like nothing. We definitely recommend this threader.

This product parts are easily replaceableThe best threading product I've ever used, a life long guaranteed machine, the only problem being that you have to travel to Johansberg, South Africa to buy spares from Zimbabwe because the company which sales ridgid products in Zimbabwe is too expensive

The best threader i have usedWe have been using the 1224 steady for the last 3 years rigging up buildings for the drilling industry. It stands up to many different users and just keeps plugging away. We have not had any issues with the machine. I have instituted a preventitive maintinance program at our facility and I feel that the regular inspections and upkeep keep our machine like new even though it runs upwards of 20 hours a day. I would recomend the Rigid 1224 Threading machine to everyone.

This unit meet and exceeded expectationsWe have owned the 1224 for a while now, threading pipe from minimum size to maximum size without any issues. We have even purchased beveling dies which cut hours out of time required to bevel to meet ASME standards. Using the automatic release threading heads has eliminated any guess work of thread length preventing over threading of pipe. The nipple chucks have greatly increased our ability to complete custom pipe systems without waiting for delivery of custom size nipples, much less the cost of having nipples cut/threaded outside our control being eliminated.

FantasticI have been in the plumbing industry for over thirty eight years. I started with three way manual dies and have moved up through the years to the best available. The Ridgid 1224 is just that. I would not even think to support a product that I had questions about or to write a review. I have no problem here. I have used this on many projects. I instruct others on the proper use of this equipment. It is simply the best and top of the line machine for this purpose. In the plumbing industry I consider myself one of the best of the best, I would not tarnish my reputation by supporting a product that was not able to preform to the expectations of the professional tradesman. You would not go wrong with this investment.
Is there a stationary non-adjustable pipe die set for this pipe machine
Reason - the adjustable dies are sometimes out of calibration - our mechanics want a non-adjustable EX. .5" npt , .75" npt, 1" npt, etc.

We never ran into this situation so I can't answer with a simple yes/no.
What we do is after noticing a little wear on the dies which is normal, is set, thread a sample check thread insertion in a fitting, then set and forget.
One thing we have run across in my time is a lot of different suppliers outsource the fittings and although they meet specs there is a generally accepted tolerance of thread depth/insertion.
We have found you can find a common neutral point between the fittings in hand we can set the thread depth/insertion to and it's not an issue then.

Oil Capacity
I have had issues with the oil overflowing and I assume too much was put in. Is there a set amount to have in at all times or some reference point to add to?
Asked by: Shark
I filled (1 Gal) my oil reservoir until i could see the level just below the small secondary screen and I had no problem with overflows. Also getting the angle of the machine correct was critical in keeping the oil in the machine. Initially our machine was level and the oil would run out of the back of the pipe but bumping the rear legs up a bit fixed that..

Can the Model 1224 put an NPT thread onto 4'' SCH pipe grade 316
Asked by: Olly
Thanks for contacting RIDGID. This machine is able to do this thread, but you will need the stainless steel dies to accomplish it. The part number would be 33057 for the dies for 4" Stainless Steel pipe. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
