Lay the head numbers-up, move the throwout lever to OPEN, loosen the clamp lever, slide the washer tongue to the end of the slot, insert dies with the numbered edge up to the indicator line matching slot numbers, return the washer tongue, then align the link/index mark to the desired size and tighten.

The Model 1224 Pipe Threader threads a wide range of pipe including black, galvanized and plastic-coated pipe, together with stainless steel, IMC and heavy-wall conduit, as well as rod up to 30 Rockwell C. The front chuck is a hammer-type with replaceable rocker-action jaw inserts, and the rear centering device uses a cam action to support and align the workpiece.
